No Room for Learning
TUSSU releases new report on student accommodation challenges
TUS Students’ Union (TUSSU) has published a new report, No Room for Learning, outlining the accommodation challenges faced by students across TUS campuses.
The report highlights how access to suitable, affordable housing plays a central role in supporting students’ academic success and wellbeing.
Key Insights
– Limited availability of affordable and safe accommodation
– Students facing long commutes due to difficulties securing housing
– Reported impact on academic performance, well-being, and participation
– Some students considering course changes, deferral, or withdrawal due to housing pressures
Many students shared that when accommodation options are available, costs are often outside their budget, leaving them to travel long distances or seek temporary or informal arrangements.
Why This Matters
Having stable and affordable housing makes it easier for students to attend classes, participate in campus life, and fully engage with their studies.
This report highlights the ongoing need to address accommodation availability across the TUS region.
TUSSU Response
TUSSU is committed to advocating on behalf of students and will continue to:
