TUSSU publishes new report on student accommodation and transport experiences

TUS Students’ Union (TUSSU) has published two new research reports exploring the challenges students face in accessing suitable accommodation and reliable transport while studying at TUS.

The report — No Room for LearningThe Cost of Getting There — highlights how housing availability, affordability, and travel needs continue to shape the student experience across multiple campuses.

These insights aim to support ongoing discussions among local authorities, transport partners, and the wider TUS community to improve access to education for all students.

No Room for Learning

No Room for Learning examines the accommodation landscape for students across the TUS region.

Key themes include:

– Limited availability of affordable and safe accommodation

– Students commuting longer distances due to housing shortages

– Reported impacts on academic performance, well-being, and campus participation

– Some students considering course changes, deferral, or withdrawal due to housing pressures

The findings show that access to stable, affordable housing remains central to supporting students academically and socially.
