Period Poverty Launch Day
Communications Manager. 9/6/23
Wednesday the 7th of June marked an exciting and monumental day for TUS and our Students Union.
After more than two years in the making, we were delighted to officially announce the launch of our Period Poverty Initiative, ‘It’s About Bloody Time’.
The initiative that is set to roll out across all 6 campuses see’s the provision of free period products for all students across TUS which was planned, developed and executed by the Welfare Working Group – James Hadnett, Saoirse Mulvihill, Niamh Kennedy, Kyran Keogh and Alexander Ciszewicz.
The launch that took place on our LSAD campus saw speeches from Welfare Officers Saoirse and Niamh, and our President, Niall.
Also in attendance was a great driving force behind the initiative, Francis O’Connell, Vice President for Education and Student Experience at TUS. Francis has been a massive support to the team since this initiatives inception in early 2021.
Dispensers containing a range of products from sanitary pads, tampons, reusable underwear and menstrual cups are already being displayed across the Athlone and Clare Street campuses, with the remaining locations Moylish, Ennis and Thurles soon to follow.
