Rented Accommodation Urgently needed for TUS Students
Reflecting the nationwide situation, there is a shortage of rented accommodation for students in the TUS Athlone and TUS Midwest (Limerick, Ennis, Thurles & Clonmel) regions. If you have accommodation available from September 2024, (see types below), you can

What types of accommodation are students looking for?
- Private houses
- Apartments
- Room or rooms in your residence with access to kitchen/bathroom etc.
What do our students need from rented accommodation?
- A friendly, approachable landlord or property provider
- Privacy
- Accommodation near their campus
- Public transport availability in the area
- Own room with access to the bathroom
- Access to the kitchen and facilities
- To pay reasonable rent
- Access to Wi-Fi and basic utilities
- Clear rules/boundaries from the start.
What are the benefits to owner-occupied landlords?
Whether you rent out a room, or let a part of your owner occupied house, the following benefits are available if you can provide accommodation:
- Earn up to €14,000 tax free (see link below to the revenue website)
- Have some company in your home
- Earn in the region of €120 to €150 per student per week for approx. 36 weeks depending on the basis you are letting (incl. meals/self-catering — 5 or 7 days basis).
